Ingredients for Poha Recipe:
- Poha – 2 cups (medium thick)
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard – 1/2 tsp
- Peanuts – 2 tsp
- Whole red chillies – 2
- Onion – 2 medium (finely chopped)
- Green chillies – 3 (finely chopped)
- Carrot – 1 small (finely chopped)
- Capsicum – 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)Cashew – 8 to 10
- Raisins – 8 to 10
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tablespoon
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Curry leaves – 8 to 10
- Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons (finely chopped)
- Salt – to taste
How to Make Poha Recipe:
First of all, wash onion, green chilli, carrot, capsicum and green coriander with clean water and chop them finely.
Take the poha in a large sieve. Place it under the tap and wash it 1-2 times in clean running water (or pour about 2 glasses of clean water over it).
Drain the excess water. Sprinkle some salt and 1 tbsp sugar and mix well and keep aside.
Now place a pan on the gas and add 2 tablespoons of oil in it and heat it well.
After the oil is heated, add 2 tablespoons of peanuts and fry it well so that it does not remain raw.
After roasting the peanuts, take them out in a plate and keep them aside. Now add 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan.
Add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add cumin seeds, red chilies (broken) and curry leaves. Fry for about 30 to 40 seconds. .
Add chopped onion and fry till it turns light pink, then add chopped green chili, carrot, capsicum and salt (add salt only for vegetables).
Mix well and keep stirring with a spatula for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add turmeric powder, mix well and let it cook for 1 minute.
Add cashews and raisins, mix well and let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add soaked poha. Mix well. Let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add lemon juice, finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
After cooking the poha, turn off the gas and add roasted peanuts and Mix black pepper powder well.
Hot and tasty poha is ready, now take it out in a plate and serve it for eating.
Suggestion:
Keep in mind that you should use only medium thick Poha because after soaking Patala Poha gets cooked quickly and thick Poha does not make it perfect.
Cooking time, Keep the gas on low to medium flame.
You can add vegetables as per your choice like cauliflower, beans, green peas, baby corn, mushrooms etc.
It is also a great snack to pack in kids’ tiffin box.
People who have diabetes should avoid consuming poha.
