- Sugar – 1 cup
- Green cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
- Saffron strands – 1/4 tsp
- Almond flakes – 1 tablespoon for sprinkling

How to Make Mohanthal Recipe:
Process of Roasting Gram Flour:
Sieve 2 cups of gram flour in a bowl. Add 3 tbsp ghee and 3 tbsp milk to it and mix it well with the gram flour using your fingers.
After mixing, press them lightly and cover them for 10-15 minutes. This will make the gram flour swell.
After the time is over, the gram flour has swelled well, now mash it a little.
Then take a sieve with thick holes and sieve the gram flour in it. So that the gram flour will form uniform grains.
After this, put 1/2 cup ghee in a pan and heat it on medium flame.
Add gram flour to the hot ghee and fry it on low to medium flame until it turns golden brown.
Remember that you have to keep stirring it continuously, otherwise it may stick to the bottom of the pan and even burn.
Now add 1/2 cup milk and keep mixing while stirring continuously.
The gram flour mixture becomes frothy and forms a more granular texture.
Keep cooking the gram flour while stirring continuously until the milk is completely absorbed.
Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside.
Process of Roasting Mawa:
Heat 1/2 cup ghee in the same pan. Add mawa and fry it on low flame till the colour changes slightly.
Take out the roasted mawa and keep it in a bowl.
Process of Making Chashani:
Put 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a pan, stir well and cook on medium flame until the sugar dissolves completely.
After the sugar dissolves completely, cook it till it becomes a single string.
After it is cooked, take it in a spoon, cool it, apply it on your finger and see if a string appears then the syrup is ready.
Process of Making Batter for Mohanthal:
Reduce the flame and add saffron strands to the prepared syrup and mix well.
Add the roasted mawa and mix well. Mix it till the mawa is well combined with the syrup.
After this add the roasted gram flour mixture and mix well. Make sure the gram flour is well combined.
Keep cooking it till the mixture starts separating from the pan. Add green cardamom powder and mix well.
Now take some of it in a spoon and try making a round shape, if the round shape is formed correctly then the mixture is ready.
Turn off the gas. Grease a tray with ghee and pour this mixture into it and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle almond and pistachio slivers over it. Press it well and make it uniform.
Place the tray in the refrigerator to set overnight and cut it into desired shapes the next day.
Delicious Mohanthal is ready, serve it and enjoy its taste.
Suggestion:
Do not forget to mash the gram flour with ghee and milk. This process helps in making granular gram flour.
Make sure you roast the gram flour on low to medium flame while constantly stirring it, else the gram flour will burn and will not be aromatic.
Adding mawa is optional, however it enhances the taste of the sweet.
To make syrup, measure sugar and water; the amount of water should be half the amount of sugar.
Prepared Mohanthal stays good for 10-15 days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
